Blade design and structural assessment
Blade engineering decisions are taken once and paid for over the life of the turbine. An independent review before a decision is fixed is a modest cost by comparison.
We support blade development and structural questions across the lifecycle:
- concept and design work
- review of an existing design or a proposed change
- assessment of repairs and modifications
- engineering support through testing and certification
Independent review is most useful in the areas where an in-house team is closest to the design: load assumptions, laminate and bond line detail, the transition regions where failures tend to concentrate, and the difference between what the design intends and what production will deliver.
For repairs and modifications, the questions are whether the structure still performs as the design assumed, and whether the documentation would satisfy a certification body, an insurer or a buyer in later years.

- Both. The team has worked on blade design, manufacturing, testing and certification, which is also what makes an independent review of someone else’s design useful.
- Can you assess whether a repair is structurally sound?
- Yes. A repair assessment asks whether the repaired structure carries the loads the design assumed, whether the repair method suits the damage and the laminate, and whether the documentation supports that conclusion later.
